Health Care, the Stalingrad of Legislative Efforts

National Review Online

Democrat Representative, Brian Reid, Washington, show class and character.  Seeing his party making a very hard left-turn, he decides to retire, and still vote no on Obama’s Pelosi-care.  This is the type of representation the Democratic Party seriously needs if it is to remain a credible party in the future.  One wonders if Pelosi will plant dead bodies under his home so he will be forced to resign immediately as she recently threw Representative Eric Massa under the bus for “alleged in discretions” and a promised no vote for health care. Massa will resign tonight. Random thoughts while watching the Pelosi created blood bath of the Democratic Party, J.C.

This guy’s words are interesting, especially since I figured he would be the among the first to sign on for Pelosi’s Suicide Squad. He’s retiring, and when he voted no in the fall, he left the door open for voting for a bill with even modest improvements. And yet: “Appearing across from Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Rep. Chris Van Hollen (Md.) on CNN’s ‘State of the Union,’ Rep. Brian Baird, D-Wash. heartily agreed in principle with the need to reform healthcare but expressed reservations about the current bills. He responded ‘yes’ when host Candy Crowley asked if he would vote against the current proposals even if it meant that healthcare reform went down.”

Jim Hoft notices that the “pivot to jobs” never seems to stick. “Barack Obama’s job’s deficit currently stands at 8.3 million. After losing 4 million jobs in his first year in office Barack Obama vowed in his 2010 State of the Union Address he would not rest until U.S. businesses were hiring again. That lasted for about a week. . . . Once again President Obama has pushed job creation to the background as he continues to focus on nationalizing health care. . . . If health care passes Obama may lose some representatives and senators in 2010 and America may lose a couple more million jobs, but the left gains control of another one-sixth of the economy and guarantees the existence of a permanent big government nanny state. It would be a huge win for the radical left.”

This morning, on a Joe-less episode of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Pat Buchanan used the word “massacre” to describe the outlook for Democrats in 2010.
