States Revolt Against the Federal Government

Bookmark and Share

This is one of the most important amendments to the Constitution. Progressives and the media would have us forget about it, claiming that power emanates from the Federal Government under the so-called supremacy clause.  As states have repeatedly show, they control their own destiny and the freedom of their citizens.  Be it marijuana laws, euthanasia, gun rights, the states have prevailed. On a ballot initiative, California voters will soon reject EPA carbon caps until unemployment reaches 5.5% from it’s current level of 12.5%. Is unemployment likely to decrease under the current administration and the ‘leadership’ of  Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger?  Not likely as California politicians following failed policies that will not stimulate private sector growth driving companies and jobs out of the state.

Now thirty-one states are writing in to their constitutions that their citizens will not be forced into a federally mandated health care system.  Logic and the rule of law dictate that this is true. It may come down to a single vote of the leftist judge, Sonia Sotomayor. Should she decide to adjudicate from the bench, war clouds will loom on the horizon, Random thoughts while observing the passing parade, I’m J.C.

Lew Rockwell interviews Michael Boldin, founder and head of the Tenth Amendment Center.

What is the Tenth Amendment, and why should we care? (“Amendment 10 – Powers of the States and People. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”)

It’s a linchpin of the states rights phenomenon that is lighting a prairie fire all across the country. And it is not a “right-wing movement,” despite the MSM’s claims. Indeed, its most powerful component is the drive to legalize medical marijuana. (The pro-gun and anti-REAL ID movements are important too, of course). The feds ordered the states to crack down, but they ignored our overlords.

And here is a lesson for all of us. Electoral politics, except Ron Paul, tends to be a corrupt sham. Rather than write, call, or fax congressmen or senators, or work to exchange Bum B for Bum A, ignore the federal government as we peacefully resist. That drains its power. Like the Devil, it needs our consent.

One response to “States Revolt Against the Federal Government

  1. Amazingly, this attitude of the federal government is exactly what created this country in the first place.
The ‘colonies’ that existed here were ‘the states’ under Britains’ tyrannical rule.
We established the Constitution, with states’ rights to prevent that from happening again.

Our Founders were prophetic in what COULD HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE.

We should admire their wisdom, and never allow this country to slide back into the mire that the Veterans of the Revolution gave their lives for.
