It is rather odd indeed that Obama would use the lower number. Wouldn’t the higher number have created a bigger crisis? Ah but remember the explosion occurred on April 20th and Obama, made his first public remarks on the spill, on April 29th, pledges to deploy “every single available resource” in response.
He speaks with the governors from five Gulf states, while Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano declares a “spill of national significance.” The time line will show that Obama was as usual derelict in his duties and found it more important to be on vacation at the time. It wasn’t until May 2nd that he visited the region. What a guy!
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it, I’m J.C. and I approve this message.
According to information obtained by a liberal environmentalist group, the White House deliberately misled the public about the amount of oil leaking into the Gulf of Mexico after the Deepwater Horizon disaster in April 2010.
The month after the spill, the administration announced that about 25,000 barrels per day of oil was being leaked into the Gulf. That estimate turned out to be wildly off the mark. About 53,000 bpd were being spilled.
According to emails obtained by the group Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, the administration falsely reported the U.S. Geological Survey’s low-end estimate as its high-end estimate, dramatically downplaying the amount of oil flooding into the Gulf.
USGS director Marcia McNutt wrote the following on May 29:
I cannot tell you what a nightmare the past two days have been dealing with the communications people at the White House, DOI, and the NIC who seem incapable of understanding the concept of a lower bound. The press release that went out on our results was misleading and was not reviewed by a scientist for accuracy.
PEER also alleges that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration “maniputalted” data on the extent of the spill by marginalizing measurements that showed a significantly larger volume of oil seeping into the Gulf – measurements that turned out to be far more accurate.
Lehr was leader of one of the most important FRTG teams, the “Plume Team” which analyzed videos of the oil leaks to produce the first estimates. Three of the 13 Plume Team experts used a technique called Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) to estimate a leak rate in the range of 25,000 bpd. But three other experts on the Plume Team reported that PIV was underestimating the size of the leak by more than 50%. Those three experts used a different technology to correctly peg the leak rate at 50,000 to 60,000 bpd.
Yet Lehr did not tell the public or key decision makers that there was a deep split on the Plume Team. In the Plume Team’s Final Report, the body of which Lehr wrote, he reported that “most of the Plume Team used PIV” which produced “consistent and accurate” estimates. These underestimates were repeated to the public and media.
Wouldn’t have put it past him to have caused the “explosion” ! He is totally destroying our domestic energy production and has waged an all out was on Texas !!
I’ve done extensive research in earlier articles which show that Soros owned Petrobras, then doubled down on his bet with his hedge fund 3 months before, I checked the volume of that stock moved then vs other oil manufacturers, Soros made a ton of money. There was virtually no stock of any quantity sold from other companies before the blast. Obama spent more time assigning blame to BP that fining them $10 billion dollars, absolutely and unconstitutional act. Of course he wanted to do that to make sure it was never conclusive about what happened. I’m with you Deb, the rig was blown intentionally. J.C.
I also agree, it was done on purpose to stop drilling and enable Petrobras and Soro’s to make money and screw the American people yet again. If I were BP I would be fighting this in court and not stop until all the lies are out in the open. Obama is evil and out to take down this country. It must be proven and aired.
Yea – then he RAN down to Brazil and said America would ‘help’ them get their oil up & running in the lower portion of the Gulf of Mexico – where we WERE up and running until the spill. Next thing we know, he and his wonderful Energy Dept. has sent them $2B. Now guess what, the oil is flowing and it goes to the HIGHEST bidder – CHINA!!!!! This just freakin burns me up!!! And now we find out that his biggest campaign supporter, George Soros has made out like a bandit!! Just like all the green energy B.S. firms!! I wasn’t really aware of the stock mess and Soros involvement which EXPLAINS everything!! Pretty freakin pathetic!! JC – I PRAY NEWT brings all this B.S. out in the primary – then after getting nomination and Presidency – I believe we should move forward with HEAVY investigations – most of which have already been done by the TRUE American Citizen’s of this Great Nation and can be found on the WORLDWIDE web – oh – and this is a big thanks to Newt for giving us the FREEDOM of having an internet accessible by the public!! Oh! Aren’t we just allll shocked!? NOT!!! Common sense overrides what they try to tell us. They MUST really think we believe everything they say. Gimme a break!
Once again or should I say as always I agree with you, JC. We all know that Obama played pocket pool and did nothing to make sure the spill was a big one. We can’t drill for oil but he gave the South American’s forgot which ones Tons of our TAX DOLLARS so THEY can drill in OUR GULF! I am so fed up with his BS and the GOP with their NWO and Romney’s a Part of it make no mistake! We need NEWT and WEST .. Most of our politicians have sold us out or that Abomination would not STILL be in DC. I have mixed feelings about getting back on fb because I am so tired of people with No conscience who have sold us down the drain and are helping obama the Abomination Ruin America even faster!!
I have no words to describe the brain dead who still like him.. I can’t write what I REALLY FEEL on here either! I have never seen so many people and never thought that American’s would sell out their own country so casually without a thought but then,… they have no brains to think with. I don’t know if it’s in the water, food or air but it has to be something to kill so many grey cells unless they just didn’t get them in the first place.

For many years it was planned (like other events) to ruin the environment and bring about the cap & trade and to evolve all the global warming and agenda 21 plans. The gulf destruction in my opinion was deliberate. This, like attacking co2 is an attack against all life. The gulf incident attacks the very “heart” of our natural earth weather cycles, bringing a mini ice age to places the gulf stream used to moderate weather like Scotland & Ireland, and many northern latitudes. There is no science in the public realm to judge the degree of damage done to earth due to this incident.
