‘Real’ Unemployment Rate Remains at 14.5 Percent

Comment by Jim Campbell, Citizen Journalist
Just another example of a media cover up and a government lie.  The reader is continually brainwashed with the number of 8.1% the reality is far worse.  Don’t be deceived, they are from the government and believe their job is to keep us in the dark any doubt about it, take a quick look at the components of the consumer price index and how the are expanding in an “inflation free,” stagnant economy.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it, I’m J.C. and I approve this message.

(CNSNews.com) – The “real” unemployment rate – a broader, more inclusive measure of the country’s jobless picture than the one usually used – remained unchanged at 14.5 percent in April, as the economy created a paltry 115,000 jobs.

Known formally as the U-6 unemployment rate, this measure includes those formally counted as unemployed, those known to be marginally attached to the workforce, and those who are working part-time because they cannot find full-time work.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the U-6 unemployment rate remained flat in April at 14.5 percent – meaning some 22.8 million people are either unemployed, have stopped looking for work, or need full-time work but can only find part-time employment.

The U-6 rate is considered to be a more accurate measure of the unemployment picture because it includes a broader sample of those affected by poor economic conditions. By including both unemployed persons and those marginally attached, this measure captures people the BLS would normally count as out of the workforce.

Being marginally attached to the workforce means that a person is not employed and has not looked for a job in the past month – but would accept a job if any were available. The measure best captures people who are available to work but who have given up looking for a job.

The government does not count these people as officially unemployed because they have not looked for work in the past month. They are usually deemed not to be in the labor force at all, and essentially disappear from the government’s survey of unemployment. ( More Below)

By counting people who can only find part-time work and including it in a measure of unemployment BLS is able to track what is known as underemployment – when someone is forced to work part-time because full-time work is unavailable.

This measure provides a deeper look into the relative weakness of the jobs market than that provided by the official unemployment rate because while these people are employed, they are not as productive as they could – and would like to – be.

  1. J.C. Your math SUCKS
    318 MILLION Americans of which 200 million are of work age, 86 million of those are out of work= 43% unemployment

  2. A quick check of my Math is easy , what % of America is on some type of Gov. wellfar? 43%

  3. A few questions :

    When a person retires, and is replaced by a ‘new hire’, is it considered a “new or created” job , even though it is still the same job, only done by a different person ?

    If the above retiree was replaced by 2 part-timers, would that be considered to be 2 “new or created” jobs , even though it is the same job , but done by 2 persons ?

    When someone takes an early retirement, for example at age 50 , but still is able to work, is that person considered to be part of the workforce ?

    With number of “statistical tricks” available to the BLS , Owebama will be able to claim an unemployment rate well under 8 % by Oct.

    Any one hear that the Chinese have trumped Obama’s plan to serve “Soilent Green” as a alternative to any food shortages. The Chinese are trying it out on the South Koreans first. The word from the Offal Oraface is that Obama aka Sleezy Preezy Steezy is bummed out as he wanted go be the first President of the United States to eat dog and ground up Chinese babies dipped in Hoisin sauce.

  5. With the real numbers Obama is still a loser. Failed policies and dismal at best at creating jobs or making the regulations so businesses could hire. He is a big failure and America must vote him out. If we are to survive voting him out is the only option, since this congress and senate are such whimps.

    Please trust me, these are Real International Trade numbers to back up everything I am saying.

    Did you know that America can create 13.68 Million good paying Jobs almost overnight by Pulling out of NAFTA and the WTO right now?

    But, most of our American Politicians are in the pocket of the Globalist and they will never let that happen without a bitter fight.

    Here is how to create 13.68 million jobs in the United States almost overnight:

    “Based on the U.S.Department of Commerce estimates that 22,800 jobs are created for every $1 billion in merchandise produced for Import or Export.”

    Go to the following location to check out this statement if you like.

    http://www.policyarchive.org/handle/10207/bitstreams/9621.pdf

    ==================================================

    Total USA Imports in 2011 = $ 1,900 billion.

    $ 1,900 billion X 22,800 = 43.320 million jobs lost to Imports from China, India, Japan & Mexico.

    ==================================================

    Total USA Exports in 2011 = $ 1,300 billion.

    $ 1,300 billion X 22,800 = 29.640 million jobs created from Exports.

    ==================================================

    If USA Pulls out of NAFTA and the WTO right now here is what the numbers say:

    USA could possibly lose 29.640 million Jobs from EXPORTS.

    However, I am sure many countries will still import some items from the USA because they are not available in other countries. That would of course create even more JOBS gained than I have estimated.

    The USA would absolutely create 43.320 million Jobs by closing the doors to NAFTA and the WTO and producing these items in the USA.

    So, 43.320 minus 29.640 = 13.68 million NET JOBS Absolutely GAINED.

    The Manufacturing JOB LOSS is increasing each and every year. I calculated this JOB LOSS in 2006 at 10 million JOBS LOST in 2006.

    My calculation means an ABSOLUTELY net gain of 13.68 million Jobs gained if the rest of the world did not buy one single penny of USA EXPORTS.

    SO MOTE IT BE….

    VOTE FOR RON PAUL IN 2012 as a THIRD PARTY CANDIDATE because that is exactly where we are headed.

    RON PAUL is the only one we can TRUST and BELIEVE in to SAVE AMERICA….

    • Harry I can’t agree with you on this. Isolation on trade is not the way to go, remember the effects of the Smoot Hawley Tarrif act? They prolonged the Great depression between 7-8 years.

  7. Harry,

    Remember, Ross Pirot was correct in his comments against NAFTA , however , voting for him caused the GOP loss. If Ron Paul were the better all around choice, or complete candi

  8. continuing: candidate, Mitt wouldn’t be . Nothing personal, but Obama must be defeated, and most believe that Paul can’t do that .
