Many of my Facebook friends are Tea Party supporters, members, and leaders. A lot of these folks are, by definition, Black. I asked a simple question of them: “How does it feel to be called a racist simply because you are pro-Tea Party?”
One of my eldest Facebook friends is Ronald Reagan Frazier, an extremely funny man who uses humor in most of his posts. Here is our (slightly edited) conversation:
LMA: Ron may I ask what you think about being called a racist all the time because you are a Tea Partier?
RRF: That don’t bother me. I can give as good as I get. I just hate that their intelligence is only limited to ‘it’s Bush’ fault’… that offends me more than name calling, or lying to me. I welcome the name calling; it means I’m getting under their skin. It’s a war out there and I have a feeling we are coming back to win this. Don’t doubt me.
LMA: They always call all of us racists. I just wonder how you personally feel to be called a racist?
RRF: I’m called an Uncle Tom…to most Blacks that’s worse than being a racist. Usually ‘kiss my black conservative loving a**’ follows…Now at work, they call me ‘Black Republican’ and I say ‘thank you dumb*** liberal democrat’ (laughs) And what the hell happened to you, Black liberal America? Everything our forefathers fought for, with slavery and equal rights is now gone down the drain because you refuse to use the gifts God gave you to think for yourself.
